Find Your Anchor
What if my startup fails…again?
This was the question ruminating through my head moments before deciding to become the CEO of Cladwell. Fear has a funny way of showing up at the most inconvenient times.
And it sounded like...
What if I never recover financially?
What if I ruin my reputation?
What if I can’t get any more funding?
What if I fail...again?
Fear was simply trying to keep me safe. And for good reason. Just years earlier, after my first startup failed, I found myself cooped up in my childhood bedroom. Husband and puggle in tow. We were bruised and defeated. Broke and reliant on my parents to get us back on our feet.
Through this experience, I discovered I had a strong anchor. Safely tethered to a faith and people who, at my worst, held me in place. Parents who took us in. A family who even let us tag along on their vacation for free. And a belief that all things can work together for good.
The option to go back home certainly revealed my privilege. For some, failure can mean a literal place out on the streets. I’m not here to naively preach that no matter the circumstance, starting something new is always worth the risk. But only when we find our anchor, can we even begin to determine the size of risk worth taking. Just how far we can go.
Fear still creeps in — if I'm being honest — more than I'd like. But I find profound comfort in knowing I am firmly anchored.

Outfit repeating is caring—here’s why
How can we challenge the idea that re-wearing your clothes is a fashion faux pas? We might start by noting that re-wearing and outfit repeating does not mean you have to look the same every single day, though that could be a cool minimalist flex if you do it right. Being confident in your repetitive outfits when everyone around you is desperately trying to switch up their clothes at the cost of the planet is one small action you can take to counter the tides of fast fashion.
Here are five tips to reframe how you think about your wardrobe and outfit repeat endlessly without sacrificing your love of clothes.
Use accessories to your advantage
Reject the notion that clothes only have one purpose.
Discover the lost art of sewing your own clothes.
Build a long-term relationship with your closet and you won’t want to break up.
Think of the future of your clothes.
