I started writing this book because a story wouldn’t stop nagging me.
Of course, I had heard the story of Exodus, the one where Moses parted the seas and led the Israelites out of Egypt. But what I had never really thought about was what happened after.
They were free. And yet, they spent forty years wandering in the wilderness until they died.
They were free. But never fully learned how to live. And I can’t help but wonder how often we do the same.
Tailwind is a collection of personal essays that asks a modern version of that very same question.
It’s a call to those who, like me, refuse to keep wandering while suspecting there might be more to life than the one they’re currently living.
This book invites you to notice what gives you life, trust what you already know, and find the courage to follow it.

Tailwind is coming out the day before I turn 40.
It’s not lost on me that I’m turning forty while writing, in part, about a group of people who spent forty years wandering in the wilderness.
I spent most of my twenties racing around trying to become who I thought I was “supposed to be.”
Then, I spent much of my thirties figuring out who I actually was.
And now, standing at the doorstep of 40 (not there yet), I want to trust myself enough to go wherever that leads me.
This collection of personal essays is about how life went from constantly feeling like I was in a headwind to discovering what made me curious, what gave me energy, and what ultimately became finding my own Tailwind.

MEET THE AUTHOR
Erin Flynn is an Amazon bestselling author of The Road Less Worn, entrepreneur, and interior designer. She founded Cladwell, a personal styling app that has helped millions get dressed, and co-owns East Main Cabinets & Design.
A Hoosier at heart, she now calls Cincinnati home with her husband, Colin, and their son, Rooney. You can usually find her writing on the deck, designing a project, or, let’s be honest, birdwatching.
